Abu Dhabi: Authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed on Monday, March 9, that debris from intercepted aerial threats fell in two locations across the capital after air defence systems successfully neutralised the incoming objects.
According to officials, the incidents resulted in two injuries. A Jordanian national sustained minor injuries, while an Egyptian national suffered moderate injuries. Emergency teams responded quickly and the injured individuals received medical assistance.
Authorities urged residents to rely only on official sources for information and warned against spreading rumours or unverified reports during such incidents.
In recent weeks, residents across the UAE have occasionally heard sirens and loud booms, which officials say are the result of successful interceptions by air defence systems. Authorities emphasised that security and emergency teams remain on high alert and continue to monitor developments closely to ensure public safety.
Similar incidents have occurred in several emirates over the past 10 days, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.
On March 5, authorities reported that six people were injured when drones were intercepted over the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) area.
Earlier, on March 1, a woman and her child were injured after debris from an intercepted drone struck Etihad Towers, causing minor property damage.
On the same day, a drone attack at Zayed International Airport resulted in one death and seven injuries, marking one of the most serious incidents in the recent wave of aerial threats.
Officials reiterated that air defence systems remain fully operational, and that relevant authorities continue to take all necessary measures to protect residents and maintain security across the UAE.
