Riyadh: Two drones struck the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, causing a limited fire and minor material damage, according to an initial assessment released by the Saudi Ministry of Defense on Tuesday.
In a statement posted on X, the ministry said the incident resulted in some damage to property but did not immediately report casualties. Authorities are continuing to assess the situation.
The attack comes amid escalating tensions in the region, with ongoing missile and drone strikes attributed to Iran targeting Gulf countries that host U.S. military bases. The latest developments follow recent strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran on Saturday.
Responding to the incident, Donald Trump, President of the United States, said the public would soon learn how Washington intends to respond. In an interview with NewsNation, he indicated that retaliation would follow the attack on the embassy and the deaths of U.S. military personnel during the ongoing conflict involving Iran.
