EU Parliament Approves €90 Billion Loan to Support Ukraine
The European Parliament on Wednesday approved a €90 billion loan for Ukraine, providing crucial financial support as the country enters its fourth year of conflict with Russia.
The loan, passed by a vote of 458 to 140, is designed to cover roughly two-thirds of Ukraine’s projected financial needs for 2026 and 2027. Funding will come from the EU’s common budget, following the abandonment of earlier plans to use frozen Russian central bank assets.
EU officials described the move as a vital lifeline for Kyiv, ensuring continued stability and economic resilience amid ongoing war challenges.
