A tragic plane crash in Colombia has claimed the lives of fifteen people, including prominent legislator Diogenes Quintero. The Colombian Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that all thirteen passengers and two crew members on board perished when the small aircraft went down. Among the deceased was also Carlos Salcedo, a candidate for an upcoming election, who was traveling with the legislator’s team.

The aircraft was operated by Satena, a Colombian state-owned airline. It had departed from Cucuta, located near the Venezuelan border, and was only minutes away from its scheduled landing in Ocana when the accident occurred. Communication with the flight was lost over the mountainous terrain of the region. The Colombian Air Force has been deployed to the crash site to conduct recovery operations.
