North Korea’s tests Upgraded Hypersonic Weapons

Seoul, South Korea: North Korea tests upgraded hypersonic weapons that could easily evade regional missile defences and prove extremely difficult to track and intercept.

South Korea and Japan reported that Pyongyang fired two short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast on Sunday, condemning the provocative launches as direct threats to regional peace and security.

Analysts identified the tested system as an upgraded version of the Hwasongpho-11Ma-1 short-range ballistic missile. 

Boasting a range of 450 to 600 kilometers, the advanced weapon is specifically designed to strike key military installations across the entire Korean peninsula within an extremely short period.

State media images showed leader Kim Jong Un and his daughter Ju Ae closely monitoring the flight trajectory, with the North Korean leader warning adversaries of an unavoidable blow.

Military experts emphasize that because the weapon maneuvers as it descends during the terminal phase of its flight, it presents a formidable defensive challenge.

It remains significantly harder to track and intercept than any conventional ballistic missile, particularly at hypersonic speeds.

Beyond immediate regional concerns, some researchers suggest these tests also serve to align North Korea's defense industry production with Russian wartime demands. 

Having deepened its alliance with the Kremlin since 2022, Pyongyang continues to bolster its strategic position and military technology through ongoing cooperation.
