Saudi King Salman Condemns Houthi Attempt to Target Makkah

Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz on Tuesday condemned what he described as an attempt by the Houthi militia to target Makkah, saying the incident violated the sanctity of the Kingdom’s holy sites and provoked Muslims worldwide.
Chairing a Cabinet meeting in Jeddah, the King praised Saudi military and security personnel for defending the Kingdom and protecting the holy sites, pilgrims, citizens and residents. Saudi authorities said on September 16 that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces had intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone before it entered the restricted airspace around Makkah.
The Cabinet also reviewed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s recent visit to Egypt and discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation. Regional developments, maritime security and international law were also discussed.
The meeting further highlighted Saudi initiatives in artificial intelligence, medical biotechnology and automotive manufacturing, including the launch of Ceer’s first vehicle models, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
