Pakistani security forces killed four terrorists during an intelligence-based raid in Balochistan’s Kalat district, part of a broader crackdown that saw 17 militants neutralised across the province last week. This surge in operations comes as a report from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) identifies 2025 as the country's deadliest year for militant violence in recent history.

According to the data, 2025 recorded a staggering 2,115 terrorist casualties, alongside the deaths of 664 security personnel and 580 civilians. The report highlights a sharp escalation in both the frequency and lethality of attacks, primarily driven by regional instability and a gap between security infrastructure and militant activity. Despite the high human cost, military officials maintain that these intensified operations are necessary to dismantle hideouts and curb the rising tide of violence in Balochistan and surrounding regions.
