Pakistani Airspace to Remain Closed for Indian Aircraft Until August 24
The Pakistan Airports Authority has announced that its airspace will stay closed to Indian aircraft until August 24. This ban affects all Indian-registered planes as well as those operated, owned, or leased by Indian airlines, including military flights.
This move comes amid ongoing tensions between the two countries. India had earlier closed its airspace to all Pakistani aircraft until July 24, a decision made after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed 26 lives.
Since April 24, Pakistan has kept its airspace shut to Indian flights in response to India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, a controversial step that escalated tensions further.
Both sides have repeatedly extended their respective airspace bans, with the most recent extension lasting until July 24. Now, Pakistan has announced it will continue its ban for another month.
The closures highlight the strained relationship between the two neighbors and the ongoing challenges in their diplomatic ties.
