Russia and North Korea Strengthen Support During High-Level Meeting

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with North Korea’s Foreign Minister in the coastal city of Wonsan on Saturday. During the meeting, North Korea confirmed its full support for Russia’s military actions in Ukraine.

Lavrov flew to Wonsan from Malaysia, where he had attended a meeting with ASEAN foreign ministers. Wonsan is known for its beaches and resorts but also has military facilities, including missile and naval bases.

This visit is part of a series of recent efforts by Russia and North Korea to grow closer. The two countries are now working together under a new defense agreement.

Lavrov said they discussed the situation in Ukraine and that North Korea expressed strong support for Russia’s goals and actions in the war.

At the same time, South Korea’s intelligence agency has reported that North Korea may send more soldiers to help Russia. Over 10,000 North Korean troops are believed to have already joined Russian forces, and more could be sent in the coming months.

This meeting shows how Russia and North Korea are becoming stronger allies as they continue to challenge Western countries.
