Thailand, Indonesia Forge Strategic Partnership, Pledge Closer Economic and Defence Cooperation

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was warmly received by Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra at Government House in Bangkok, marking the first state visit by an Indonesian president to Thailand in 20 years.
Commemorating 75 years of diplomatic relations, both nations announced the elevation of their ties to a strategic partnership, with renewed focus on strengthening trade and investment.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn noted that the two sides had agreed to deepen cooperation in key areas such as tourism, food security, and economic collaboration, according to the Associated Press (AP).
The leaders also addressed a wide range of defence and security concerns, pledging to enhance maritime security, counterterrorism, cybersecurity collaboration, and joint military exercises, while exploring new partnerships in the defence industry.
