Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman hosted US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday evening for high-level talks in Jeddah. The meeting, which also included discussions on strengthening bilateral relations, comes ahead of a series of crucial diplomatic engagements aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Secretary Rubio’s visit marks a significant step in the US’s diplomatic efforts, as he leads a delegation ahead of talks with Ukrainian officials scheduled for Tuesday. His visit follows growing international efforts to bring an end to the three-year-long conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The Saudi government has actively supported peace and stability initiatives in the region, further cementing its role as a key player in global diplomatic and security matters.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the two leaders reviewed the current state of Saudi-US relations and explored ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors, from economic growth to security initiatives. They also discussed the latest developments in both regional and international contexts, exchanging insights on measures to foster greater security and stability in the region.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and a Saudi delegation led by Prince Khalid bin Salman, Minister of Defense and Ambassador to Washington. Princess Reema bint Bandar also participated in the talks.

Rubio's visit underscores the United States' focus on fostering stronger ties with Saudi Arabia, as the Kingdom continues to play an influential role in international diplomatic efforts, particularly in the context of Middle Eastern security.

In addition to his meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Rubio’s visit precedes discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who also arrived in Saudi Arabia on the same day. These high-level talks are expected to focus on advancing peace efforts aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict with Russia, an issue that has garnered significant international attention.
