The Kremlin stated on Tuesday that Ukraine has the "sovereign right" to join the European Union but remains opposed to Kyiv joining NATO.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov remarked, "With regard to Ukraine joining the EU, it is the sovereign right of any country," but added that security and military alliances, like NATO, are viewed differently by Russia.
Peskov reiterated Russia's opposition to NATO expansion, maintaining that the approach on security issues is well-known.
