Trump's Gaza Takeover Plan: No Right of Return for Palestinians

Washington, D.C. – U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Palestinians would have no right of return to Gaza under his proposed takeover plan, describing his vision as a "real estate development for the future." The remarks, made during an interview with Fox News' Bret Baier, have sparked widespread condemnation from the Arab world and the international community.

In excerpts released ahead of the full interview airing Monday, Trump said he would "own" the project and proposed relocating Palestinians to as many as six different sites outside Gaza.

When asked directly whether Palestinians would have the right to return to Gaza, which has been largely devastated by Israeli military operations since October 2023, Trump responded: "No, they wouldn’t, because they're going to have much better housing." He added that rebuilding Gaza would take years and suggested establishing "permanent" communities for displaced Palestinians instead.

Trump first unveiled his controversial plan during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, drawing immediate outrage from Palestinian leaders and human rights organizations. The proposal includes relocating Palestinians to areas outside Gaza, with Trump calling on Egypt and Jordan to accommodate the displaced population.

In his Fox News interview, Trump insisted that his plan would ensure "beautiful communities" for the more than two million Palestinians currently residing in Gaza. "Could be five, six, could be two. But we’ll build safe communities, a little bit away from where they are, where all of this danger is," he stated.

"In the meantime, I would own this. Think of it as a real estate development for the future. It would be a beautiful piece of land. No big money spent," Trump added.

The proposal has been met with fierce rejection from Palestinian leaders and regional governments, who argue that it undermines Palestinian sovereignty and ignores their right to return to their homeland. Critics have also accused Trump of attempting to reshape the geopolitical landscape of the region through forced displacement.

As global reactions continue to pour in, the future of Trump's controversial Gaza plan remains uncertain.
