Elon Musk has reinstated Marko Elez, a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee, after a viral controversy involving his racist social media posts. Elez, who resigned following public backlash, had previously shared offensive remarks about Indian and Middle Eastern people. Musk conducted a poll on X, asking followers whether Elez should be rehired. The poll showed overwhelming support for his return, with 78% voting in favor. Musk followed up with the statement, "To err is human, to forgive divine."
Elez, a Rutgers graduate, had worked with Musk’s companies including SpaceX and Starlink before joining DOGE. As part of his role, Elez had access to critical government systems handling trillions in federal disbursements, including Social Security and tax returns. Despite the controversy surrounding his past actions, Musk, along with political figures like JD Vance and Donald Trump, expressed support for Elez's reinstatement, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness.
