421 Arts Campus Announces Interactive Exhibition by Emirati Artist Dr. Ahmad AlAttar
421 Arts Campus has announced Human in the Loop, a new immersive installation by Emirati artist Dr. Ahmad AlAttar, set to run from June 21 to September 13, 2026.
Developed through the 2024 cycle of 421’s Artistic Development Program, the exhibition explores the relationship between human interaction and algorithm-driven technology through sound, movement and sensory engagement.
The installation features a network of suspended ropes spread across the gallery space, allowing visitors to trigger evolving sound responses through physical interaction. As participants move through the exhibition, they gradually uncover patterns and engage in what the artist describes as a “hide-and-seek” experience with a shifting algorithmic system.
According to Dr. AlAttar, the project examines questions surrounding control and the growing relationship between people and technology.
The title Human in the Loop references a term commonly used in robotics and artificial intelligence to describe systems that rely on human input. In the exhibition, visitors become active participants whose actions directly influence the system’s responses.
Dr. AlAttar combines his background in robotics engineering and electronics with artistic experimentation, creating interactive installations that blend technology, culture and storytelling.
The exhibition reflects 421 Arts Campus’ continued focus on supporting emerging artists and research-driven creative practices across the UAE and the wider region.
Located in Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi, 421 Arts Campus hosts exhibitions, workshops and public programmes aimed at strengthening the UAE’s creative ecosystem.
