Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi has announced a new interactive poetry experience at Zayed National Museum, inviting visitors to transform their personal memories and reflections into original poems inspired by Abu Dhabi and its culture.
The activation, set to launch on May 28, will feature one-to-one conversations between visitors and poets in both Arabic and English. Participants will be encouraged to share personal stories, emotions and experiences, which will then be turned into custom-written poetry pieces.
The initiative forms part of the museum’s five-day “The Joy of Eid” programme running from May 27 to 31, celebrating Eid traditions through storytelling, music, hospitality, poetry and craftsmanship.
According to organisers, the experience is open to everyone, including UAE nationals, residents and tourists, with a focus on highlighting diverse voices and cultural connections through poetry.
Nassra Al Buainain, Director of Learning and Public Engagement at Zayed National Museum, said the initiative reflects the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who viewed poetry as an important part of leadership, culture and national identity.
She said the programme allows people to come together and share stories and memories in a meaningful setting, adding that poetry continues to play an important role in connecting communities and preserving Emirati heritage.
“The Joy of Eid” programme will feature a series of public activities across the museum aimed at introducing visitors of all ages to Emirati Eid customs and traditions through interactive cultural experiences.
