PUBG MOBILE LIGHT brings a faster, lightweight battle royale experience to mobile

New version offers reduced storage requirements, faster loading and access to the PUBG MOBILE ecosystem, with pre-registration now open

PUBG MOBILE has announced the upcoming launch of PUBG MOBILE LIGHT, a new application designed to provide a faster and more streamlined battle royale experience while retaining the core gameplay that has made PUBG MOBILE popular worldwide.

Pre-registration for PUBG MOBILE LIGHT is now available on the App Store and Google Play Store, ahead of its official launch in November.

PUBG MOBILE LIGHT will centre on classic battle royale gameplay on the iconic Erangel map, where up to 100 players can compete individually or in teams to be the last player or team standing.

Players will also be able to download additional content on demand, including Miramar and Sanhok, as well as modes such as Team Deathmatch and Metro Royale. The approach is designed to give players greater control over storage usage by allowing them to download only the content they want.

The application has been optimised for faster downloads, shorter loading times and reduced storage requirements. Its download size will be less than 1GB on Android and 2GB on iOS, while the company says it is designed to provide smoother and more responsive performance across a wider range of devices.

Despite its lighter footprint, PUBG MOBILE LIGHT will remain connected to the existing PUBG MOBILE ecosystem. Players can use their existing PUBG MOBILE accounts, retain their friends lists and game data, access their assets and switch between the two versions according to their preferences.

The new version will also support cross-play with PUBG MOBILE, allowing players using the two versions to squad up and play together.

“With PUBG MOBILE LIGHT, we’re empowering players to take control of their gameplay experience like never before,” said Vincent Wang, Head of PUBG MOBILE Publishing, Tencent Games.

He said the new application is focused on quick access, smooth performance and greater flexibility while maintaining the core PUBG MOBILE gameplay experience.

“We know players want fast, high-quality matches without having to compromise on download space, and PUBG MOBILE LIGHT delivers exactly that,” Wang added.

Pre-registration began on August 25 on the App Store and Google Play, with closed beta testing available in selected countries.
