Dubai Quality Group and Balsam Academy Launch 2nd Cycle of Global Medical Excellence Award 2025
Under the esteemed patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline & Group, and Patron of Dubai Quality Group, the Dubai Quality Group (DQG), in collaboration with Balsam Academy for Medical Education and Research, has announced the launch of the 2nd cycle of the Global Medical Excellence Award 2025.
The award, which opens for applications on 10 September 2025, targets medical and healthcare institutions across the public and private sectors worldwide. Its goal is to promote innovation, institutional excellence, and international best practices in healthcare, while enhancing performance, resilience, and sustainability in the sector.
Ms. Samira Mohammed, Director General of DQG, said, “In line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE continues to focus on excellence and sustainable development across key sectors. Through this award, we aim to strengthen the UAE’s global competitive position in healthcare, foster a culture of excellence, and empower medical professionals locally, regionally, and internationally.”
She added that the award seeks to support innovation, uphold patient safety, improve performance efficiency, and encourage ethical medical practices. It also aims to position the UAE as a hub for medical excellence and medical tourism, while connecting quality with prevention, sustainability, and health equity.
For the 2nd cycle, the award model has been updated to include hospitals, clinics, individuals, and medical education categories. Winners will be recognized at platinum, gold, silver, and bronze levels, following desk evaluations and site visits. Ms. Mohammed emphasized that the award process is fully transparent and impartial, conducted by a team of experienced professionals, including the chairman, jury members, and evaluation team leaders.
Applications will remain open for two and a half months starting mid-September 2025, giving participants sufficient time to prepare. Qualified applicants will undergo site visits, and winners will be announced during a ceremony honoring the awardees, presided over by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
Dr. Bassam Darwish, Founder and President of Balsam Academy, highlighted that the award coincides with the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Conference, which aims to empower medical professionals and students to use AI technologies to improve healthcare quality and patient outcomes. The two-day conference, organized in cooperation with the International Society for Medical Artificial Intelligence, will feature around 30 international experts and speakers.
