MINI John Cooper Works has partnered with lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina to create two one-of-a-kind cars that blend performance, design, and culture. These vehicles reflect a lifestyle where speed meets creativity, appealing to both motorsport enthusiasts and design lovers.

“MINI has always combined creative design with motorsport performance,” said Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI. “This collaboration with Deus Ex Machina takes that philosophy further, setting new trends for fans and car enthusiasts alike. We share a passion for machines, innovation, and community.”

Designs That Celebrate Craft and Heritage

Both cars are based on the MINI John Cooper Works lineup. One is an electric MINI JCW with 258 hp, and the other is a combustion-engine MINI JCW with 231 hp. Each car features a distinctive white “X” on the roof, symbolizing the collaboration between the two brands.

Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design, explains: “Every detail has been crafted with artisanal precision. The vehicles share a design language that balances motorsport history with modern aesthetics, while visible seams and traditional levers emphasize a mechanical, handcrafted character.”

The vehicles showcase bold materials and colors, intentionally avoiding high gloss finishes. The approach celebrates authenticity and the “beauty of imperfection,” while exterior graphics honor MINI’s racing heritage.

The MINI JCW X DEUS Cars

The pair of cars share a common spirit but have distinct personalities:

The Skeg – Electric and Coastal-Inspired
Designed with the beach in mind, the electric-powered Skeg draws inspiration from surfing. Its fiberglass panels reduce weight and enhance aerodynamics, while tension straps on the roof mimic surfboard tie-downs. The interior features neoprene-covered racing seats, fiberglass trays for wetsuits, and a dashboard inspired by surfboard construction—practical and tactile, with a focus on simplicity over polish.

The Machina – Combustion-Powered and Track-Focused
The Machina embodies pure racing energy, inspired by MINI’s motorsport history. Its red, white, and black design, widened fenders, and extra rally-style headlights pay homage to the brand’s racing roots. The rear diffuser, Can-Am-style spoiler, and central exhaust enhance both performance and presence. Inside, the car features racing harnesses, raw aluminum floors, stripped-back panels, and an exposed roll cage—every element designed for precision, functionality, and the thrill of driving.

Both vehicles showcase MINI JCW’s commitment to blending performance, design, and cultural storytelling, offering fans and collectors a unique glimpse into the brand’s creative vision.
