Emirates is celebrating the Kerala harvest festival, Onam, by serving authentic festive dishes on its flights to and from Dubai, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram until September 6.
Passengers across all cabin classes will be able to enjoy traditional Onam delicacies, bringing a taste of home to travellers from Kerala. The menu includes popular starters such as sharkara upperi (banana roasted in jaggery), kaya varuthathu (banana chips), and kondattam mulaku (fried sundried chillies with yoghurt). Traditional dips like kaalan (yoghurt and yam curry), cucumber pachadi, and the tangy puli inji (ginger chutney) will also be served.
For the main course, travellers can choose from a range of Kerala-style dishes, including alleppey kozhi curry (spiced chicken in coconut sauce with avial and rice), vegetarian sadhya (sambar, kootu, matta rice, and thoran), or nadan kozhi kari (pan-fried chicken with coconut and spices). First Class guests will also have the option of Kerala-style chicken stew.
Desserts will feature traditional favourites such as palada pradhaman (creamy rice pudding) and parippu payasam (sweet lentil pudding), served with an authentic touch on banana leaf dish liners.
Beyond the dining experience, Emirates is enhancing the festive spirit with its award-winning ice entertainment system, offering over 6,500 channels. Passengers can enjoy 15 Malayalam films, a wide selection of Indian movies, popular shows like Koffee with Karan, and more than 48 music albums from Indian artists, alongside international films, series, and podcasts.
With this festive offering, Emirates aims to bring the spirit of Onam closer to the skies, making travellers feel at home while celebrating one of Kerala’s most cherished traditions.
