Kelly Clarkson’s nine-year-old son “refuses to brush his teeth”.

The 42-year-old pop star – who has son Remy and daughter River, 10, with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock – has found an unusual way to encourage him to embrace dental hygiene.

She said on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’: “He’s nine years old and I had my son and I have a real hard time. He’s gonna hate me, maybe from this. I don’t care, because I only tell it ’cause him into doing it. But he just refuses to brush his teeth!”

Despite this, Kelly has found a innovative way to get Remy to brush his teeth.

She shared: “It’s like a girl thing, and so finally, I was like, ‘Hey, let’s make it a competition.’ So I was in the shower, I’m like, ‘Just take your toothbrush into the shower.’ I was like, ‘You can do whatever.’ You can multitask.”

So that’s how, she says, Remy’s brushing habit changed.

Kelly explained that her son ends up asking her very candid questions.

She said: “I don’t know when kids abruptly become very adult about boys. They’ll ask questions like, ‘Oh yeah, of course I did that.’ Like I’m an adult now.”

“But I’m a single mother, so he’s just like, ‘Yeah, totally did.’ And I’m like, ‘You’re nine.’ But I mean you can’t really help prevent…”
