Bahrain International Trophy arrives ahead of historic race

A key component of the inaugural Bahrain International Trophy horse race has arrived on the island, in the form of a bespoke trophy commissioned from the longest-serving jeweller in the world, The House of Garrard. Designed and handcrafted in Garrard’s London studio, the stunning sterling silver cup is 45cm in size and is supported by an elegant mahogany and silver base.

It will be unveiled during the Post Position Draw (PPD) that is taking place at the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) tomorrow, which will be broadcast live and exclusively on Racing TV for international audiences and on BTV for local audiences. The House of Garrard has been serving royalty and private clients worldwide for almost 300 years, with a legacy of creating some of the world’s most illustrious sporting trophies, including The Dubai World Cup in addition to the America’s Cup, The Royal Ascot Gold Cup, The British Masters Trophy and The Cricket World Cup.

The occasion coincides with the showcase of Garrard’s new Wings Embrace designs at Jewellery Arabia, as the renowned jewellery house and silversmith expands its presence in the region. The magnificence of the trophy, plus its illustrious makers, reflect the prestige and stature of the horse racing event and its participants. Bahrain International Trophy is the island’s first international horse race, debuting as a major fixture on the world calendar.

Bursting out of the gates in fine form, it has attracted world-renowned runners, jockeys, owners, trainers, and media figures. The historic race will be held at REHC on Friday, with the support of local partners Gulf Air, Bapco and Batelco. Bahrain International Trophy is expected to spur the introduction of more glittering international racing events to the kingdom in the future.
