Bahrain's youth handball team suffered their first defeat of the Asian Championship in China after losing 30-26 to Saudi Arabia in their second Group A match.
Saudi Arabia built a five-goal lead by half-time, going into the break 17-12 ahead at the Chuzhou International Handball Hall. Bahrain fought back after the interval and won the second half 14-13, but could not overturn the early deficit.
The result left Bahrain on two points from two matches after they opened their campaign with a 39-27 win over Chinese Taipei. Saudi Arabia moved to four points following victories over Oman and Bahrain.
Bahrain are due to face Hong Kong, China, on July 19 before meeting Oman the following day. They will end the preliminary round against hosts China on July 22.
Group A also includes China, Oman, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong, China. The top four teams will advance to the quarter-finals, with the four semi-finalists earning places at the 2027 IHF Men's Junior World Championship in North Macedonia.
