Batelco backs Nasser 8

Under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, the First edition of the Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games (Nasser 8) kicks off next Thursday on the grounds of Khalifa Sports City, Isa Town.
The first day includes two matches in the football tournament starting at 7:15pm between Majestic Car Showroom and Al Wehda, while title holder Victorious will play Fast Link at 8:30 pm.
Meanwhile it was announced that Batelco are a key sponsor of this event and Shaikh Nasser expressed his thanks and appreciation for their support of various social and sports activities in the Kingdom.
He praised Batelco’s sponsorship of the football competition for the past two years, adding the company’s support will contribute in improving the general levels of sports in Bahrain and will be a key factor of its success.
The announcement followed a recent meeting at Batelco Headquarters in Hamala between Shaikh Nasser Media and Information Centre Head and Nasser 8 Supreme Organising Committee Chairman Tawfiq Al Salehi and Batelco Public Relations Manager Osama Al Saad.
During the meeting, Al Saad presented a cheque to Al Salehi in the presence of Batelco Corporate Affairs Manager Ahmed Al Janahi.
Batelco Gunners United announced the team’s readiness for Nasser 8, team manager Shaikh Khalid bin Salman Al Khalifa said, “Led by coach Shaikh Salman bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa and assistant coach Musa Mubarak, team players are in daily training at Riffa Club to try and reach the final rounds of the championship.”
The team includes experienced players such as former national football team star Talal Yousif, Jassim Al Jibin, Raed Baba and Saudi national star Mohammed Al Shemrani. Shaikh Khalid added that the team is in its final stages of contracting with an international professional footballer, who will be announced in the next few days.
