Usain Bolt Surprises Runners at PUMA Shakeout Run in Doha
Qatar’s running community enjoyed a special event as sports brand PUMA hosted a shakeout run at Khalifa International Stadium, in partnership with the Qatar Athletics Federation.
The event brought together members of the public, athletes, content creators and sports fans for a 1.5km run that celebrated fitness and community spirit. The atmosphere quickly turned electric when sprinting legend Usain Bolt made a surprise appearance, exciting runners and spectators alike.
Bolt stayed on to cheer participants during a fun 100m sprint challenge, held separately for men and women. Many runners welcomed the rare chance to race on the same track that has hosted world-class athletes. The Olympic champion later took part in a Q&A session with media personality Hadeel Riyad.
Participants also tested PUMA’s latest NITRO running shoes at the on-site NITRO Van, where footwear was matched to individual running needs. The event was further highlighted by the presence of Qatari Olympic and world champion Mutaz Barshim, along with regional athletes and influencers who shared the experience online.
Supported by partners including Red Bull, Oakberry and Burgeri, the event featured giveaways and interactive activities, drawing strong participation from Qatar’s running community.
The celebrations continued the following day when Usain Bolt visited Newton International Academy Lusail to take part in a fun fitness session with students. He later officially opened PUMA’s new store at Doha Festival City and met fans during a public meet-and-greet.
Johan Kuhlo, Managing Director of PUMA Middle East, said the event reflected the brand’s commitment to supporting Qatar’s growing running culture and bringing communities together through sport.
The Doha activation is part of PUMA’s wider strategy to expand its running presence across key GCC markets, using global and regional athletes to connect more closely with local communities and promote an active lifestyle.
