Bahrain’s Rooba Alomari delivered a composed, six-round series to win gold in the Para Women’s F55/56 shot put final yesterday at the sixth Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
Competing in the morning session at Prince Faisal bin Fahad Stadium, Alomari steadily built her rhythm before producing the decisive throw of 7.39 metres in the fifth round. The mark proved just enough to hold off Nigeria’s Ogochukwu Modesta Ogili, who closed the gap with a 7.35m effort in the third round but could not surpass the Bahraini in the final attempts.
Saudi Arabia’s Nadha Alhumaydani claimed bronze with a best of 6.13m, followed by Kyrgyzstan’s Adina Samyibek Kyzy in fourth with 5.38m. Algeria’s Nadia Medjemedj and Ouafaa Rouabhia did not start the event.
Alomari’s victory adds another medal to Bahrain’s growing tally in Riyadh, reinforcing their presence across the athletics and para athletics programme as the Games enter their final days.
