McLaren Automotive Names Garage 59 as Official WEC Racing Partner from 2026

McLaren Automotive has confirmed that multiple championship-winning team Garage 59 will become its official racing partner in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) LMGT3 class starting in 2026. The team will take over the reins from United Autosports, which will now focus entirely on the development and testing of McLaren’s new LMDh Hypercar ahead of its highly anticipated 2027 debut.

The announcement follows McLaren Racing’s earlier reveal that it will compete in the WEC Hypercar category under the McLaren United AS banner, marking an ambitious expansion of the brand’s motorsport efforts.

Garage 59: A Proven Winner
Named in tribute to the legendary Le Mans-winning McLaren F1 GTR, Garage 59 has a storied history of success with McLaren machinery. Highlights include the 2016 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup victory with Factory Driver Rob Bell, the 2022 GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup Pro-Am title, the 2023 Bronze Cup, and the 2024 British GT Silver Am title. This season, the team has continued its strong performance, challenging for overall titles in the GT World Challenge Europe series.

“The intensity and heritage of motorsport is central to McLaren Automotive’s DNA,” said Nick Collins, CEO of McLaren Automotive. “With success on the Formula One track, the Hypercar project gaining momentum, and our GT cars delivering race-winning performances, this is an exciting time for McLaren. We thank United Autosports for their invaluable contribution to our WEC achievements, including our first LMGT3 race win, and we look forward to seeing their success in Hypercar.”

United Autosports’ Legacy and Transition
Since its WEC debut in 2023, the McLaren GT3 EVO—managed by United Autosports—has quickly established itself as a dominant force in the LMGT3 category. Last year, the car made history at Le Mans, claiming pole position and locking out the front row for the first time. It also secured multiple podiums and its maiden victory at the Circuit of the Americas in September 2025. United Autosports will now redirect its focus toward maximizing the performance of McLaren’s LMDh Hypercar for its 2027 entry.
