Emir of Kano to attend GIFA 2015

Muhammadu Sanusi II, the former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria and the current Emir of Kano, Nigeria, will be the guest of honour at the Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) 2015 held today at Gulf Convention Centre in Manama. He will also deliver a keynote speech at the gala dinner.
“Keynote speeches at GIFA Ceremonies highlight ethical issues in Islamic banking and finance, and this year’s speech by Emir Sanusi will be a highlight of GIFA 2015,” said the Founder of GIFA, Professor Humayon Dar.
He will also receive the “Global Islamic Finance Leadership Award” for playing an instrumental role in the development of Islamic banking sector in the African region. After four successful awards ceremonies in Muscat, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai, GIFA are being organised for the first time in Bahrain where more than 30 institutions drawn from the global Islamic financial services will receive awards in over 40 fiercely fought categories. National Bank of Kazakhstan is the co-organiser of this year’s awards ceremony while Edbiz Consulting continues to manage the awards on behalf of Islamic Bankers Association. In addition, three Ambassadors including UK, Malaysia and Pakistan have confirmed their attendance at the gala dinner.
