Bahrain, France Seek Deeper Parliamentary Cooperation

Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, said Bahrain-France relations continue to witness steady growth and significant development across various sectors, supported by the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the continued backing of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The remarks came during a meeting with a delegation from the French Senate led by Olivier Cadic, Senator representing French citizens living abroad and Chairman of the France-Bahrain Friendship Group. The meeting was attended by the French Ambassador to Bahrain, Mr. Éric Giraud-Telme, as part of the delegation’s official visit to the Kingdom.
Fakhro highlighted the longstanding historical ties and strategic partnership between Bahrain and France, describing them as a model of constructive cooperation between friendly nations. He emphasized the importance of strengthening parliamentary relations through the exchange of visits, expertise and experiences between the Shura Council and the French Senate.
He noted that enhanced parliamentary cooperation would contribute to greater coordination, support common positions on issues of mutual interest, and further develop legislative collaboration in regional and international forums.
For his part, Olivier Cadic commended Bahrain’s development achievements and progress in the legislative field. He reaffirmed the French Senate’s commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation with the Shura Council and activating joint friendship groups to further advance the partnership between the two countries and broaden areas of collaboration.
