AMP 80pc complete Civil Aviation to play key role during operational readiness trials

More than 80 per cent of the Airport Modernisation Programme (AMP) has been completed thanks to the strategic cooperation and dedicated efforts of all parties involved, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) Chairman, Kamal Ahmed announced. The minister pointed out that the design and construction work on the New Passenger Building is proceeding at a pace faster than those of similar projects in the region.  The Minister was speaking at a workshop organised by Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), in cooperation with Civil Aviation Affairs, the authority charged with regulating and supervising all aviation activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

]In attendance were Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications Civil Aviation Affairs Under-Secretary Mohammed Thamer Al Kaabi and senior representatives of BAC and Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide, which is providing a comprehensive Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) programme for the new terminal.   Workshop participants were briefed on the latest new Passenger Terminal Building developments and ongoing ORAT activities. These included training programmes for concerned stakeholders and contractors covering new IT systems and equipment used for checkpoints, registration offices, and baggage systems, which are aimed to ensure high quality and efficient operations.  

The Minister said: This workshop is part of ongoing coordination efforts among all parties involved in the ORAT programme’s the ongoing operational readiness trials, which will ensure the new Passenger Terminal Building’s various functions, systems, and procedures are ready for its launch in the third quarter of this year. Achieving the AMP’s important goals hinges on the success of the ORAT programme, which why we must continue to take steady and coordinated steps to ensure its progress during this next important phase.”  

Al Binfalah said: “Through regular National ORAT Steering Committee meetings and Airport Partners workshops, we have aligned our efforts and achieved a great deal. However, an even greater effort is required over the next few months as we embark on the AMP’s final stages. With the support of CAA, other relevant government agencies, and our partners, we will ensure the new Passenger Terminal Building operates as a safe, friendly, and efficient airport.”
