The Bahrain Traffic Directorate arrested 648 drivers of various nationalities for providing transportation services in exchange for money without an authorised taxi permit.
They were also using vehicles not authorised to run as taxis. According to Article 46 of the Bahrain Traffic Law, anybody who provides taxi services without a licence will be punished with up to six months in prison and/or a fine of up to BD1,000, or both.
The law will continue to be enforced across all governorates in collaboration and coordination with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, said the Directorate.
