The first edition of the Healthcare Centres Conference and Exhibition, themed “From Theory to Excellence”, has kicked off in Bahrain.

A total of 800 specialist doctors, academics, consultants, experts, students and those interested in the field of primary health care, in addition to 76 speakers from Bahrain and abroad, are participating in the conference that runs until February 4.

On the occasion, Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to organise, host and support scientific and health conferences, as part of its efforts to support the healthcare sector and ensure the sustainability of the health system, praising the ongoing cooperation with local and international entities in hosting such events and conferences aimed at exchanging knowledge and enhancing cooperation in the fields of health and medical sciences.

Dr. Ejlal Faisal Al Alawi, CEO of Primary Healthcare Centres, in her speech, said that the three-day conference will feature 14 workshops that cover key topics, such as family medicine, emergency medicine, infection control, vaccinations, chronic, infectious and hereditary diseases and mental illness, as well as oral and dental health.

She indicated that the conference will also discuss other important issues, such as developing primary healthcare policies, innovation in treatments and medical devices, improving quality and safety in health services, as well as exchanging experiences in health institutional accreditation and how to implement and manage relevant medical and health regulations.

She also pointed out that the conference will review the latest procedures and laws adopted in regulating primary healthcare through 38 plenary sessions that address topics related to legal and ethical work in the primary healthcare sector.

Dr. Al Alawi added that the Healthcare Centres Conference, which attracts representatives of public and private health entities, universities, health associations, senior decision-makers and affiliates of the health sector, will provide an opportunity to highlight the kingdom’s initiatives to develop the health sector.
