Pre-qualify for race gets underway
Under the patronage of HM the King's Representative or Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and honourary President of Bahrain Royal Equestrians and Endurance Federation (BREEF), HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, a season opener over 80-km distance pre-qualification race gets underway at 6am this morning from the Bahrain International Endurance Village.
Around 65 riders from various stables will compete following a veterinary screening examination of the horses yesterday which was witnessed by Shaikh Nasser who asserted the need to ensure a successful race and providing all forms of support and assistance.
He expressed his desire that this season will provide strong competition and a high standard by all the riders and stables with positive results.
The race will be in three stages, the first (red colour) will be over 40km, the second (green colour) over 20km and the third (yellow colour) over 20km.
Royal Endurance team director Dr Khalid Ahmed Hassan said the race will be interesting because of the extensive participation of many stables throughout the kingdom and expressed his optimism that it will be highly competitive.
