Stamp Celebrates Legacy of Isa the Great

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has launched a commemorative postage stamp marking the “Year of Isa the Great”, honouring the legacy of Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the ruler of Bahrain and its dependencies, who played a key role in establishing the foundations of the modern Bahraini state.

The stamp was unveiled by Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa during a ceremony held at the Postal Museum in Manama.

Preserving Bahrain’s Postal Heritage

The minister highlighted that the commemorative stamp represents an important national milestone, documenting part of Bahrain’s postal history, which dates back to August 1, 1884, when the Kingdom’s first post office opened in Manama.

He said the postal sector has continued to evolve since then, strengthening communication networks and supporting Bahrain’s development journey through a modern postal system aligned with technological advancements and community needs.

Stamp Reflects National Memory

The minister noted that commemorating national figures through postal issues reflects the historical and cultural value of stamps as records of significant milestones.

He added that such releases help preserve Bahrain’s national memory and pass the legacy of influential figures to future generations.

The ministry remains committed to advancing the postal sector, enhancing its capabilities in line with international standards, and supporting Bahrain’s comprehensive development goals.

Honouring a Nation Builder

The issuance of the stamp forms part of the ministry’s efforts to document key national milestones and personalities who contributed to Bahrain’s progress.

It also highlights the role of postage stamps as cultural and historical publications showcasing the Kingdom’s heritage, achievements and national symbols, including Isa the Great, whose leadership contributed to strengthening state institutions and laying the foundations of modern Bahrain.
