Security committee reviews traffic plans and safety measures ahead of the new academic year
The Southern Governorate Security Committee reviewed security requirements across the governorate and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community partnership, improving response times to public reports, and enhancing safety measures during its eighth meeting of 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Southern Governor HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, in the presence of Deputy Governor Brigadier Hamad Mohammed Al Khayat, Deputy Director-General of the Southern Governorate Police Directorate Colonel Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and representatives of the Ministry of Interior's security agencies.
Opening the meeting, HH Shaikh Khalifa highlighted the committee's role in implementing the directives of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and addressing residents' security needs to reinforce safety and stability across the Southern Governorate.
He praised the close coordination between the governorate and various security authorities, noting that continued cooperation has contributed to faster responses to reports and improved services for residents.
The committee reviewed efforts by the General Directorate of Traffic and the Southern Governorate Police Directorate to prepare for the upcoming academic year. Discussions focused on ensuring smooth traffic flow around schools, increasing traffic patrols, and implementing measures to safeguard students.
HH Shaikh Khalifa stressed the importance of maintaining traffic movement on both main and secondary roads, while intensifying patrols and public awareness campaigns to enhance road safety throughout the governorate.
The Governor also reviewed a visual presentation by the Southern Governorate Police Directorate outlining security arrangements for upcoming events and activities, as well as operational statistics highlighting joint efforts to serve residents.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence presented a report on its key emergency responses during July. HH Shaikh Khalifa emphasised the importance of continued cooperation with Civil Defence to raise safety standards and promote greater public awareness of security and safety practices.
The committee also reviewed security observations and requests received from residents. HH Shaikh Khalifa commended the swift response by security agencies in monitoring and analysing reports and implementing solutions that contribute to community safety and wellbeing.
