Cars’ removal ordered for sprucing up roads

Municipality issues notices to remove cars that encroached roads

Manama

The Southern Area Municipality of the Kingdom has taken a major step to beautify the roads encroached by cars. The cars parked along side the roads, especially in East Riffa, West Riffa, Askar, Jaw and parts of Sanad and Isa Town will be removed soon in a bid to give a facelift to the area.

The municipality has already issued notices to the owners of the cars, who parked the cars with ‘for sale’ stickers on them. The municipality has given a specific time limit to remove these illegally parked cars. “If the cars are not shifted within the specific time, the municipality will tow the cars away,” the Public Relations and Media Department of the Southern Area Municipality said in a statement.

“If the cars are towed away by the municipality, all the cost incurred for this purpose should be borne by the owners of the car,” it warned.

The initiative came after the municipality received complaints that the abandoned cars have been marring the beauty of the area. “The presence of these cars is also annoying the people of the neighbourhoods,” the municipality said.

“The municipality has already taken action by issuing notices to the owners of the abandoned cars. Now it is time for the car owners to act,” it added.
