Dr. Mirza inaugurates 9th IEE GCC conference

ManamaEnergy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza naugurated the Ninth Gulf Electronics and Water Engineers Conference and Exhibition (IEEE-GCC Conference) entitled ‘’Solutions for a Smarter Economy” at the Gulf Hotel yesterday. 

Held under the patronage of Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the conference was organised by the IEEE Saudi Arabia in coordination with the Bahrain section.

More than 300 people from various parts of the world attended the inaugural ceremony. 

“We’ve a large number of participants who are experts or decision-makers or learners, here, to know about what’s going on in the energy and IT sector. This is a great opportunity to learn, share and move the technological edge forward,” said Margaretha Erickson IEEE Regional Director, in her address.

“From over 400 papers that have been received we have accepted 200 papers, which will be presented over 45 sessions. The majority of sessions addresses energy systems, communication, computer technology and moreover there is a session dedicated exclusively to women in Engineering”, said Dr Ibrahim Elamin, the Technical Committee chairman.

Awards were presented to the sponsors after the inaugural addresses and sponsors representative speech. 

Participants then requested to move towards the exhibition where various stalls had been put up.

“People always look for a credible one, like the IEEE GCC conference, to present their research. Being a member of IEEE, I was notified about this conference and have come to present my research related to Antenna’s,” said Rudy Yuwono from University of Brawijaya, Indonesia.
