Court to hear two cases of medical death

ManamaTwo suspected cases of medical negligence that resulted in patients’ death have been referred to the competent court while two other cases of deaths due to suspected medical blunders are still under investigation, said Chief Prosecutor for Ministries and Governmental Directorates, Advocate General Mamdouh Al Maawda.

The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) submitted to the Public Prosecution four cases in which patients died of suspected medical negligence.

The Public Prosecution then commissioned the NHRA medical committee to scrutinize the cases, assess the therapeutic and medical measures which were used in treating the patients and decide whether the deaths resulted from medical negligence.

Based on the committee’s reports, the Public Prosecution referred the cases to the competent court,  while the other cases are still under investigation.
