A man has confessed to targeting children through a social media app, luring them with cash and obscene videos in exchange for indecent material, the Public Prosecution announced yesterday.
The case came to light when a father reported suspicious activity involving his son to the Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit.
The report led to an investigation by the cybercrime division at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, which tracked down the suspect using the app’s contact-adding feature.

Prosecutors questioned the man, who admitted to randomly adding children via the app’s ‘quick add’ tool.
He explained that once contact was made, he would attempt to draw them in by sending pornography and offering money in return for compromising clips.
He remains in custody while authorities sift through the contents of his phone to determine the extent of the activity.
The case will be referred to court once inquiries are complete.
