National Race Day action resumes

ManamaAction resumes tomorrow at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) with the latest edition of National Race Day taking to the tarmac.

The single-day event is set to feature three of most popular circuit racing championships, namely the BIC 2,000cc Challenge, the Bahrain Superbike Championship (BSBK) and the Bahrain Motorcycle Racing (BMR) 600. Each series will be hosting the second round of their respective 2016/2017 campaigns.

Aside from this, testing for the upcoming 2017 TCR Middle East Series will also be held.

Race fans from across the country and beyond are invited to attend and tickets are available at the venue at BIC’s Welcome Centre at BD2 for adults and BD1 for children.

Racing begins at 11.20am with the BSBK practice. Qualifying will then be held at 1.35pm, setting up the grid for race one at 3.57pm with race two will be at 6.18pm.

For the BMR 600, practice is scheduled for 11.55am with qualifying at 2pm, race one at 4.26pm and then race two at 6.47pm.

The 2,000cc Challenge cars will be get their participation underway with practice at 12.20pm, qualifying at 2.25pm, ahead of race one at 4.56pm and race two will be the final event of the day flagging off at 7.17pm.

The TCR tests will be divided into two 45-minute sessions. The first will begin at 3pm, and the next is scheduled for 5.21pm.

In the 2,000cc Challenge, Mohammed Faqihi and Hussain Karimi were the two winners of the opening round, and they will once again be amongst the drivers to look out for in Friday’s meeting. Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa is another, being the series’ defending champion.

Other contestants included in the entry list are Tim Birkin, Giovanni Salerno, Tareq Al Tajer, Raed Himmo, Michael Priester, Salah Ashkanani, Lee Stones, Mohammed Janahi, Ramzi Al Qassab, Martyna Al Qassab, Abdullah Ben Nakhi, Abdullah Alqaoud, Hamed Kuzbar and former champion Shaikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.
