Dealers sell cheap liquor in Bahrain as branded
Manama: A gang of three is allegedly operating an illicit trade, selling alcohol from their villa in Adliya.
The gang is selling cheap alcohol passing it off as branded ones, it was alleged. According to a source, they obtain stickers of top alcohol brands and stick them on to their alcohol bottles, and sell for a high profit margin.
An informer supplied DT News with details of the business run by Adliya-based Indian expats. The informer revealed that the gang smuggled the stickers from India.
“They buy alcohol bottles that were used and discarded by bars. These bottles are filled with cheap alcohol and the stickers are stuck on to them. To alter the taste and effect of the alcohol, they mix chemical additives. The gang is well equipped, they also provide delivery services,” the source said.
He added that the gang employs two workers, who run errands for them. The informer also provided all details, including CPR numbers, vehicle number plate details and residential address.
When DT News contacted the gang, in the guise of a customer, they initially denied selling the illicit liquor, but later offered what they had.
During the conversation, they also made a revelation by offering a prostitute. The gang member, Samir, inquired if the services of a prostitute was required. It was not clear if it was a deliberate attempt to promote the business or if it was mentioned by mistake.
