Bahrain court acquits man in black magic case
Manama: A Bahraini man has been acquitted of practising black magic due to lack of evidence.
The defendant was put on trial after a man filed a complaint against him, stating that the accused man told him that he could use black magic to improve his life at a cost of BD4,500.
He claimed that the defendant gave him strange objects, including papers and a bracelet made of stones as well as talismans.
“Nothing improved in my life, and I returned to him after a few days, requesting to be refunded. He refused to give me money, and he gave me a car to sell it to get my money,” the plaintiff told prosecutors.
Though the defendant denied practising black magic, he admitted to taking the money from the defendant.
“I borrowed the money from him, but I wasn’t able to settle it on the agreed time. He came along with his brother and they both attacked me. Thus I filed a complaint against them and I refused to drop it,” the defendant said during the interrogation.
“As a result, they filed a malicious complaint against me,” he added.
The court supported the defendant’s claim, underlining that the accusations against him were vindictive.
