Spate of vandalism acts again near schools
Vandals have blocked more roads leading to schools this weekend in a bid to prevent teachers and students from reaching schools.
The Education Ministry has documented all such attempts and stated that all incidents were reported to the concerned authorities, who removed the obstacles and cleared the area.
There’s a different incident being reported every other day during the past week, reaching to more than 10 similar occurrences.
Two incidents were reported in Nuwaidrat village in the Capital Governorate yesterday.
The Ministry said in a press statement that terrorists blocked the roads leading
to Umm Al Qura Elementary and Intermediate Girls’ School in the village using rocks, concrete blocks and burning waste.
It also stated that iron rods were nailed to the streets near Nuwaidrat Elementary Girls’ School.
“The Ministry condemns such terrorist activities that are lately repeating and aim at blocking roads leading to schools. These are desperate attempts to prevent teachers and students from reaching schools,” the Ministry stated, adding that over 460 different assaults against public educational institutions were reported.
Chief of Public Security Major-General Tariq Al Hassan last week warned in a statement of disrupting order during the national ceremonies.
“As part of the commemorations marking the anniversary of the National Action Charter, any calls to disrupt security and general order in Bahrain is a crime under the law. Anyone who responds to such calls and engages in illegal behaviour will be held legally accountable,” said Maj. Gen. Al Hassan.
“The police are monitoring illegal calls aimed at terrorising the public and disrupting general order,” he added, “They will confront anyone aiming to upset the stability of the nation.”
Earlier attacks and roadblocks had specifically targeted elementary schools in different parts of the Kingdom, including Eker, Al Daih, Seqaya and Aali.
