Calls for Stronger GCC Cooperation on Cross-Border Crime
The Public Prosecution participated in a Gulf workshop in Riyadh as part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Interior and the Supreme Judicial Council.
The workshop focused on strengthening cooperation between security agencies, public prosecution offices and courts across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The Chief of the Enforcement of Criminal Judgments Prosecution presented a paper addressing the role of public prosecution in tackling challenges related to extradition, tracing and recovery of funds between GCC countries.
The paper highlighted procedural challenges and national efforts in asset recovery, while proposing measures including a unified Gulf arrest warrant, a mechanism for the rapid freezing and seizure of criminal proceeds, and a unified procedural guide for public prosecution offices.
Bahrain’s participation reflects its efforts to strengthen judicial and security cooperation and support joint action against cross-border crime.
