Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic Major General Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa has stressed that student safety is a top priority, calling for close cooperation between families and traffic police to ensure a safe start to the new academic year.
He said students’ return to school requires a safe traffic environment that gives parents peace of mind and ensures children reach school safely and return home safely at the end of each day.
The Director General urged parents to follow traffic rules and regulations when transporting their children, particularly around schools and educational areas.
He confirmed that traffic police will intensify their presence on roads and streets during peak hours as part of an integrated traffic management plan. Officers will also take firm action against violations and dangerous behaviour that could put students at risk.
The General Directorate of Traffic has completed preparations for the new academic year by increasing traffic patrols and implementing awareness and guidance programmes in cooperation with relevant authorities.
