Two-Year Struggle Ends With Homecoming

An Indian mother and her two young children returned home after nearly two years of legal and documentation difficulties, following assistance from Pravasi Legal Cell (PLC), Bahrain Chapter.

Mrs. Arunima Baby Karimbadam Kuniyil and her children, Griva Mariyam and Zyan Muhammad, had faced difficulties obtaining essential birth documents, leaving the family unable to complete residency and repatriation procedures.

Arunima approached PLC in March 2026, seeking help amid financial and humanitarian difficulties. PLC President Sudheer Thirunilath and General Secretary Dr. Rithin Raj coordinated with authorities and appointed panel lawyer Adv. Tariq Alown to pursue the case before the court.

A favourable court judgment helped clear a key legal hurdle and allowed the family to proceed with the required documentation.

PLC also secured assistance from Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Centre, which provided a 70% discount on an outstanding bill of about BD597, reducing the payable amount to around BD180.

The family also received support from the Embassy of India, immigration authorities, individuals and their landlord during the process.

On September 17, Arunima and her children flew from Bahrain to Kochi on an Air India flight, ending their prolonged ordeal.
