Council Challenges Shared Housing Figures

Northern Municipal Council members have questioned differing figures relating to buildings allegedly being used as shared workers’ accommodation in the sixth constituency.
Council member Abdulla Abdulhameed Ashoor highlighted several figures provided by authorities, including references to 17 buildings, 24 notified properties and an inspection campaign covering 14 buildings.
He also questioned why only one property had reportedly had its electricity and water services disconnected.
Ashoor requested the addresses of the 24 properties and a detailed report supported by photographs.
He said the council’s decision allows the municipality to cancel registrations and request the Electricity and Water Authority to disconnect services after the required notice has been issued.
