Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, chaired a coordination meeting in preparation for Bahrain’s participation in the 39th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, scheduled to be held remotely on June 11.
The conference will focus on enhancing Arab parliamentary cooperation to support regional stability and advance sustainable development across the Arab world.
During the meeting, Al Musallam praised the directives of Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the continued support of Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in strengthening joint Arab action and promoting consultation and coordination among Arab legislative bodies.
He said Bahrain remains committed to supporting initiatives that advance Arab causes, strengthen regional security and stability, and reinforce development efforts, all of which form a key component of Arab parliamentary cooperation.
Al Musallam underscored the important role of parliaments and legislative councils in supporting collective Arab action and coordinating positions on major regional issues. He stressed the need for continued engagement through regional and international parliamentary forums to address current challenges and support efforts aimed at maintaining regional stability and safeguarding international navigation routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the Bahraini Parliamentary Division’s participation in several upcoming events, including the 39th AIPU Conference, the 42nd session of the Union’s Executive Committee, the Gulf parliamentary coordination meeting, and the 47th meeting of the Association of Secretaries General of Arab Parliaments.
Participants discussed Bahrain’s contributions to these forums and the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and dialogue at both the regional and international levels.
