Islamabad: Three Pakistani nationals were killed and another injured in a Houthi attack on a commercial vessel in the Red Sea on Tuesday, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar said on Wednesday.
Dar condemned the attack and offered condolences to the families of those killed. He said targeting a civilian commercial vessel endangers innocent lives, violates international law and threatens freedom of navigation and maritime security.
Pakistan is in contact with Saudi authorities and Yemen’s internationally recognised government to establish further details about the incident.
Dar also directed Pakistan’s Embassy in Riyadh to coordinate the repatriation of the victims’ remains and provide all possible assistance to the injured Pakistani national.
Pakistan said it was closely monitoring the situation and would remain in contact with the authorities involved.
