216 Killed in Colombia Quake as Woman Rescued Alive From Rubble

Pereira: A 32 year old woman has been rescued alive from the rubble of a collapsed building in Colombia, offering a rare moment of hope as the death toll from the country’s powerful earthquake reached 216.
Daniela Largo was pulled out by rescuers in Pereira after being trapped beneath the wreckage. Her rescue was met with cheers and applause as soldiers, firefighters and volunteers continued searching for survivors.
The 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, causing widespread destruction across cities including Pereira, Cali, Manizales and Quibdó. More than 2,500 people have been injured and thousands remain missing.
Rescue teams are using dogs, drones and heavy equipment to search collapsed buildings, with authorities warning that time is running out for people still trapped under the rubble.
The disaster has become Colombia’s strongest earthquake in a century, with emergency services continuing large-scale rescue and relief operations across the worst-hit areas.
